Meghan Cheng

Meghan Cheng is a new media artist and violinist working with interactive visuals, sound, and immersive environments. Her practice includes creating large-scale light and sound sculptures, 360-degree projection-mapped installations, and online interactive performances. Across formats, she uses real-time data such as live music, audience movement, and web-based inputs to shape responsive visual and audio systems. Cheng’s formal training is in violin performance (MFA, BMus) and with this, brings a world of acoustic musical practice to her new media artwork practice. Due to her background in violin, Cheng’s creative technology work is driven by a curiosity for what emerges when opposing ideas are brought together: the digital and the acoustic, the technological and the human, the large-scale and the intimate. Her work has been presented at Nuit Blanche, Luminato, Illuminarium (Toronto), VectorFest, and Ontario Place’s Lumière.
