Intisar Awisse is a playwright, dramaturg, and creative producer. She has been creating theatre for the last ten years with a focus on new play development, devised ensemble work, adaptations, and dance-based performance. Her freelance work includes projects with both independent artists and for companies such as Dancemakers, Nightwood Theatre, Shaw Festival, Stratford Festival, and the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival.

Intisar was an inaugural ThisGen Dramaturgy Fellow with Why Not Theatre where she further developed her dramaturgical practice with the support of the Metcalf Foundation for the Performing Arts and the Canada Council for the Arts. Currently, she is ThisGen’s Artistic Producer and works to support theatre artists from across Canada.

Alongside her artistic practice, she regularly works in book publishing and as an arts educator.
