Dramaturgy (Waterloo, ON)

Intisar Awisse is a writer, dramaturg, and editor currently based in Waterloo, Ontario. As an inaugural ThisGen Fellow with Why Not Theatre in 2020, Intisar developed her dramaturgical practice to focus on cultural dramaturgy and advocacy that centres the needs of BIPOC artists. Intisar was the Playwright-in-Residence at Green Light Arts for 2019-2020 where she continues to develop her play (m)otherhood, a new work that explores the intersections between surveillance culture, black survivalism, and parenting.
